SP101 Kitemark™ for Fire Extinguisher Servicing

 

What is it?

The SP101 Kitemark provides third party assurance for the service and maintenance of portable fire extinguishers carried out by BAFE approved organisations including registered technicians ensuring that the selection, positioning/installation, commissioning, maintenance and recharge of the fire extinguishers is carried out to the highest standards, making sure they will work effectively when needed.

 

What does it do?

By obtaining the SP101 Kitemark you are demonstrating that you go above and beyond by ensuring that your technicians are competent and that the fire extinguishers that they specify are fit for purpose, located correctly and maintained properly.

The Kitemark is a highly recognised symbol of trust, which will indicate that your technicians and the service that they supply has been independently assessed and verified by BSI as meeting the requirements of SP101.


Assessment standards

The assessment is based on the BAFE Fire Protection Industry Scheme Reference SP101 Scheme Manual which is available from the BAFE official website, and also standards; 

  • BS5306-3 Fire extinguishing installations and equipment on premises. Commissioning and maintenance of portable fire extinguishers. Code of practice
  • BS5306-8 Fire extinguishing installations and equipment on premises. Selection and positioning of portable fire extinguishers. Code of practice
  • BS5306-9 Fire extinguishing installations and equipment on premises. Recharging of portable fire extinguishers. Code of practice
