AS/NZS 4708 The Australian/New Zealand Standard for Sustainable Forest Management
The Australian/New Zealand Standard for Sustainable Forest Management (AS/NZS 4708) ensures that wood and non-wood forest products are produced in a manner consistent with the highest ecological, social and ethical standards.
The Standard is endorsed by the Program for Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC). PEFC is a leading global alliance of regional and national forest certification systems. As an independent, international, non-profit and non-governmental organisation, PEFC is dedicated to promoting sustainable forest management through independent third-party certification.
Australian Forestry Standard Limited (trading as Responsible Wood) is the Standard owner. The Standard applies to forests within Australia and New Zealand.
BSI currently certifies the majority of Australia’s forest managers.
Certification to this Standard is the first link in the sustainability supply chain. Customers with Chain of Custody certification (AS4707:2021 or PEFC ST 2002:2020) are able to provide their customers with products that can be traced back to their origin.
Chain of custody certification provides consumers with confidence that they, too, ae supporting sustainable forest management.
