    Seizing Opportunities for Positive Change:

    With sustainability expectations higher than ever from stakeholders and investors due to the urgent climate crisis, reducing environmental impacts is now a top business priority.

    While going greener poses complex challenges globally, for packaging firm SGK it revealed opportunities to drive positive change throughout its operations, supply chains, and community presence across 60+ sites worldwide.

    The Challenge

    As a global operator with over 60 sites worldwide, SGK wanted to define and implement a sustainability strategy, recognizing the need to take its supply chain and stakeholder community on the journey.

    SGK needed a trusted partner with experience and qualifications to benchmark its current operations, come up with a plan for change, and help implementation. SGK was determined not to miss the opportunity for effecting positive change across its supply chains, and the communities in which it operates.
    A key challenge was making the sustainability strategy relevant to all employees, clients and partners across its global operations - while also being bespoke enough to allow for site-specific activities and nuances across geographies.

    The Solution

    Customized Sustainable Roadmap: Driving Positive Change with BSI and SGK

    With a customized and adaptable approach, BSI partnered with SGK to develop a strategic roadmap and harness their expertise in sustainability best practices.

    The project aimed to identify key priority areas for positive change, irrespective of site location or workflow. A crucial aspect was obtaining input from stakeholders to ensure the strategy benefited all parties and challenged existing practices.

    Split across two phases, BSI’s work encompassed several key deliverables which included: evaluating relevant international standards, establishing environmental performance and impact data baselines, facilitating stakeholder interviews and workshops, and developing attainable KPI and SMART targets.

    Through these collaborative efforts, BSI and SGK aimed to drive meaningful change, enhance sustainability practices, and achieve the company's environmental commitments.
