BSI continues to grow in Asia with Thai acquisition
25 January 2007
BSI Group – an international provider of business improvement services – has today announced that it has acquired the certification business that was previously owned by its agent in Thailand.
The acquired business will trade through BSI Management Systems (Thailand) Company Limited and be part of BSI Management Systems’ Asia Pacific operation, managed by Yon Burana, BSI’s new Managing Director in Thailand.
The acquisition consolidates BSI’s presence in one of South East Asia’s fastest growing economies and accelerates the Group’s position in Asia as a whole where nearly 30 per cent of the Group’s staff are based, serving 11,000 customers from 30 offices.
BSI Management Systems, the certification arm of BSI Group, operates in over 100 countries, with 60,000 certified locations worldwide. It is the largest certifier in the UK and North America, and in Asia and globally it is the market leader in the certification of information security management systems.
Flemming Norklit, Managing Director of BSI Management Systems said: “This acquisition further enhances BSI’s presence in South East Asia and confirms our commitment to an important growing economy which is increasingly moving into export markets.” Yon Burana adds “BSI’s latest investment in South East Asia offers companies in Thailand access to BSI’s worldwide reputation and expertise to improve their global competitiveness and we look forward to working with them to do this.”
