The Lean Practitioner certification programme is a programme that has been designed to bring the delegate through from basic understanding of Lean to successful implementation of fundamental Lean tools in the workplace.
The tools and techniques introduced in this programme have been successfully applied in manufacturing and service organizations and have resulted in significant monetary savings and improved operational performance.
The programme structure combining classroom sessions and back-at-work tasks ensures that there is practical application of what has been learnt in the classroom.

What's included?
Lean Practitioner Completion Requirements
To be awarded with the Lean Practitioner Training Certificate (Certificate of Attendance), the Participant shall complete the Lean Practitioner classroom training with a minimum attendance of 80% per phase.
In addition to the above attendance requirement, to be awarded with the Certified Lean Practitioner Certificate (Certificate of Successful Completion), the Candidate shall need to pass the exams at the end of each training phase with a minimum rating of 70% and to demonstrate the ability in applying the Lean methodology through:
- Completion of 1 (one) Lean project;
- Completion of final report of the said project and reviewed by BSI’s panel of assessors;
- Project savings/ benefits of Php 250,000 annualised was achieved, validated, and endorsed by the Finance/ Senior Management of the Candidate’s organisation, as real gains; and
- Each Lean Practitioner Candidate shall be given a validity of 6 to 8 months from last day of classroom training, to complete the Lean project.
Project Review Requirements
All projects shall be submitted within 6 to 8 months after the last day of classroom training.
The final report of project shall be in Word format converted to a .pdf format; and a Powerpoint format converted to a .pdf format and reviewed by BSI’s panel of assessors. The Powerpoint file simplifies the Participant’s project reporting at his/her organisation’s workplace because this pulls from the Word format’s numerous, detailed progress reports, and extensive background analyses. This condenses and visually communicates to his/her project proponents using graphs, charts, and succinct bullet points. Both reports converted in .pdf format shall be submitted to BSI for review and approval.
A Candidate is disqualified to be certified if the project is submitted beyond the due date. However, an overdue project is subject for justification and BSI approval. Once approved, Candidates shall sit in and pay the corresponding fee of a BSI Lean Practitioner Public Training class they need a review on (a minimum of one day) or a project review fee of Php 5,000 shall be required from the Candidates.
Recertification Requirements
- BSI requires Certified Professionals to recertify once every three (3) years to ensure that the same level of knowledge and skills are demonstrated and maintained.
- Certified Professionals must submit a completed project at the end of the 3-year recertification period.
- Projects shall have the same requirements and fees as stated in this Policy.
- There is a 6-month grace period after the recertification date. If one does not recertify within this grace period – the certification will expire/decertify and he/she needs to re-sit in all the exams required in his/her certification in addition to the project he/she has to submit.
