    Identifying areas for ergonomic improvement and efficiency

    Since starting up in 2023, a US utility client’s most common injuries were due to ergonomic hazards throughout its workplace.

    The client recognized the imperative need to enhance workplace safety, minimize risks, and ensure long-term success, understanding the value of a trusted partner to help deploy a comprehensive industrial ergonomics safety program.

    Overcoming ergonomic issues for optimal workplace safety

    As safety became a top priority, the client needed to assess its workplace thoroughly to identify areas for improvement to create a safer, more secure environment.

    The organization aimed to set a benchmark and minimize safety risks by proactively enhancing ergonomics. By optimizing the workplace, the client sought to create a more resilient and productive workforce. The client enlisted BSI Consulting’s expertise, data, and training to improve ergonomic practices. They recognized that a specialized partner could accelerate progress. Through collaboration with BSI Consulting, the client aimed to ensure effective, sustainable ergonomic improvements aligned with their mission of workplace safety.

    The Solution

    Mapping out a comprehensive path to success

    The client engaged with BSI Consulting’s ergonomics team to perform a comprehensive gap analysis, identifying 21 improvement opportunities across manufacturing and production areas.

    The client initiated a three-stage strategy to elevate workplace standards. Stage one involved physical demand assessments to understand work requirements. Stage two focused on training engineers in ergonomic standards and engaging production workers for feedback. The final stage integrated human and organizational performance principles into incident analysis. BSI Consulting successfully supported the client in establishing a comprehensive ergonomic program through this process.
